SPIRIT ANIMALS: Altered Photographs | 15 Images
The animals in this photographic portfolio are modified to become imaginary animals. I became intrigued with the artistic depiction of animals as “spirits” after being introduced to Huichol folk art, whose hallucinatory representations are done in both yarn paintings and with beads on gourds.
After photographing animals in various locations in Central and North America, I manipulate them by hand painting them in Photoshop.
Each image is printed directly onto a brushed aluminum surface using UV fine art inks enhance their bright colors with satin finish. The shimmering aluminum remains visible around the print as a mat and is framed in a 3/4” wide by 2 1/8” deep matte black frame, ready to hang. Each limited-edition print is signed and numbered.
